Manicure Services at Viva Nail & Spa

Regular Manicure

The foundation. Nail shaping, cuticle care, a hand and arm lotion application, and your choice of regular polish.

A regular manicure at Viva Nail & Spa is thorough — not a rushed service. Your nails are properly shaped and filed, the cuticles are carefully groomed, and the polish is applied with precision. Regular polish typically lasts five to seven days before wear becomes noticeable, and up to ten days with careful handling.

For clients who change their polish color frequently, or who simply want a clean and polished look without the commitment of gel, a regular manicure is the right choice.

Regular Polish Change

For clients who already have healthy, shaped nails and simply want to refresh their color. The existing polish is removed, the nail surface is cleaned and lightly prepared, and fresh polish is applied.

This is one of our fastest services — the right choice for a quick color update between more complete appointments.

Gel Manicure

Everything in the regular manicure, finished with gel polish instead of regular polish. Gel polish is cured under an LED lamp, making it immediately set and chip-resistant from the moment you leave the chair.

Gel manicures typically last two to three weeks without chipping. For clients with active lifestyles, busy schedules, or anyone who simply dislikes the maintenance of regular polish, gel is a significant upgrade in longevity and convenience.

The finish of gel polish is also noticeably glossier and more consistent than regular polish — it maintains its appearance for the full duration rather than gradually dulling.

Gel Polish Change

For existing gel manicure clients who want to refresh their color without a full service. The previous gel polish is removed and fresh gel is applied in the new color choice.

Nail Art & Enhancement Add-Ons

Every manicure at Viva Nail & Spa can be customized with one or more add-on services. These are applied on top of the polish or gel finish and allow for a wide range of creative and stylistic results.

Ombre

A gradient color effect where two colors blend seamlessly into each other across the nail surface. Ombre can be done in virtually any color combination — from subtle and natural (nude to white) to dramatic and expressive (deep burgundy to blush).

Ombre is one of our most consistently popular requests. It works with any nail shape and length, and the effect is genuinely striking in person in a way that a standard solid color often is not.

Chrome

A mirror-like metallic finish applied over cured gel polish using a chrome powder. The result is a highly reflective surface that catches and amplifies light — looking different in natural light, indoor light, and evening light.

Popular chrome finishes right now include rose gold, silver, holographic, and warmer bronzes and coppers for fall. Chrome can be applied over any gel base color, creating combinations like burgundy chrome, navy chrome, or emerald chrome.

Cat-Eye

A magnetic gel polish effect that creates a shifting, dimensional pattern inside the polish — resembling the iris of a cat's eye. The effect is created by holding a magnet over the cured gel, which moves the metallic particles within the polish into the characteristic linear or swirl pattern.

Cat-eye nails are most dramatic in jewel tones: deep emerald, sapphire blue, amethyst, garnet, and deep teal. They photograph beautifully and consistently generate compliments from people who have not seen the effect before.

V-French (Chevron French Tip)

A modern variation on the classic French manicure. Instead of the traditional rounded white tip, the V-French creates a pointed chevron at the tip of the nail — an architectural, refined update to one of the most enduring nail styles.

V-French is available in traditional white-on-nude and in any color combination — black on beige, gold on blush, burgundy on sheer nude. It is one of the most elegant add-ons available for clients who want something more interesting than a standard French without committing to full nail art.

French Tip

The classic French manicure tip — a clean, white or colored tip applied over a sheer or nude base. Available in the traditional rounded style.

Nail Art / Design

Custom designs applied per nail. From simple geometric linework and micro florals to abstract brushstrokes and seasonal art — nail design at Viva Nail & Spa is applied by hand by our technicians and priced per nail.

If you have a specific design in mind, bring a reference photo. If you have a general direction but no specific image, describe it to your technician and we will interpret it for your nail shape and size.

Understanding Gel Polish vs Regular Polish

The most common question we answer at Viva Nail & Spa: should I get gel or regular polish?

Here is the honest answer.

Choose regular polish if:

  • You like changing your color frequently (every few days to a week)
  • You prefer not to use an LED lamp
  • You are looking for the most budget-friendly option
  • You do not mind some maintenance and touch-ups

Choose gel polish if:

  • You want your manicure to last two to three weeks without chipping
  • You want a higher-gloss finish that holds its appearance longer
  • You have an active lifestyle that is hard on regular polish
  • You have a specific event or occasion coming up
  • You want the convenience of not worrying about your nails for weeks

Nail Art Trends Worth Knowing Right Now

Our technicians stay current with what is trending in nail art. Here is what clients are requesting most frequently at Viva Nail & Spa right now:

Chrome finishes in fall tones: Bronze and copper chrome over deep fall bases — burgundy, forest green, chocolate brown — are among the most-requested looks this season. The reflective finish deepens the color and adds a dimensional quality that regular polish cannot produce.

Cat-eye in jewel tones: Deep emerald, sapphire, and amethyst cat-eye effects are reaching their peak seasonal expression in fall and winter. The shifting dimensional effect in these saturated shades is genuinely striking.

Ombre in transitional colors: Moving away from the bright summer gradients into warmer fall transitions — terracotta to nude, plum to mauve, burgundy to blush.

Minimalist nail art: Single thin lines, micro stars, or a small geometric detail on one accent nail. The quiet luxury approach to nail art — intentional and visible without being maximalist.

How to Get the Most from Your Manicure Appointment

Bring a reference photo. If you have a specific color, finish, or nail art look in mind, a photo communicates it more accurately than words. Show your technician the image and let them tell you exactly how they can achieve it and whether any adjustments make sense.

Know your shape preference. Short and practical, or longer and more dramatic? Square, oval, almond, or coffin? Knowing your shape preference before you sit down saves time and ensures the final result is what you actually wanted.

Be honest about your lifestyle. If you cook, clean, type all day, work with your hands, or are otherwise hard on your nails — say so. It helps your technician recommend the right finish (gel vs regular) and the right length for your life.

Give yourself time. A regular manicure takes 25 to 30 minutes. A gel manicure with nail art takes 45 to 60 minutes or more depending on the complexity. Coming in when you are not pressed for time makes the experience better for everyone.

How to Make Your Manicure Last Longer

The single most effective habit: wear gloves when cleaning. Exposure to dish soap, cleaning products, and prolonged water submersion are the primary causes of early chipping and lifting in both regular and gel polish.

Beyond that:

  • Apply cuticle oil daily to keep the skin around the nail hydrated
  • Avoid using your nails as tools
  • Allow regular polish to dry fully before putting on gloves or tight clothing
  • Return for fills and touch-ups before the damage becomes significant

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a gel manicure last? Typically two to three weeks with proper care. The first seven to ten days are when gel polish is at its most pristine. After two weeks, some wear at the tips may begin to appear depending on daily habits.

Can I get nail art on short nails? Yes. Chrome, cat-eye, ombre, and most nail art designs work on any nail length. Some detailed designs benefit from more surface area, but your technician can adapt any look to shorter nails.

Does gel polish removal damage my nails? Not when done correctly. Gel polish is removed by soaking in acetone — either with foil wraps or in a dish. The process takes 10 to 15 minutes and, done properly, leaves the natural nail intact. Peeling gel polish off without soaking is what causes damage.

Can I bring my own nail polish color? Reach out to the salon directly to ask about their policy on client-supplied products.

Do you offer nail art by the nail or for a full set? Nail art is priced per nail. You can choose to have art on all nails, select accent nails only, or any combination. Contact us for current per-nail pricing.
